Golf Down to the Bone
Somewhere along the way, joining a club started meaning initiation fees, dress codes, and a monthly minimum at a restaurant you never visit. Bare Bones goes the other direction. We keep the three things that make golf worth playing — a real handicap, honest competition, and the people you play with — and throw out the rest. Same tradition. None of the bloat.
Everything Essential.
Nothing You Don't Need.
An Official Handicap
Every member receives an official USGA Handicap Index (GHIN), issued through our SCGA club. Post your scores, watch your game, and know exactly where you stand.
Real Competition
Play a full season of net events where your handicap levels the field — so a 20 can beat a 6 on the day, and everybody has something to play for coming down the stretch.
Good Company
A roster of golfers who take the game — not themselves — seriously. Pairings, group outings, and a clubhouse group chat that never sleeps.
Member Rates
Association-backed access to discounted rounds, partner offers, and rules & handicap resources — the perks of a big golf body, at a small-club price.
A Season Schedule
A calendar of medal days, match play, and team events published ahead of the year, so you can circle the dates that matter and show up ready.

A Real Calendar,
Run Like a Tournament
Here's the shape of a Bare Bones year. Handicaps keep every format fair; the standings keep it interesting.
- Monthly Medals Stroke-play net days across the season — the bread and butter of club golf, and how your handicap stays honest.
- Order of Merit Points on every medal day feed a season-long standings race. Play well all year, win the club's top honor.
- Match Play Championship A season-long knockout bracket, head-to-head, net. The most nerve-racking way to find a club champion.
- The Bones Cup A Ryder-Cup-style team match — captains, singles, and fourballs. Bragging rights that last until next year.
Courses We Play

Frequently Asked
Do I have to be a good golfer to join?
Not even close. The whole point of a handicap is that it levels the field — a beginner and a scratch player can compete in the same net event and either one can win on the day. Bare Bones is for anyone who wants to play the game properly, wherever they're starting from.
What exactly am I signing up for?
An official golf-association membership through the Bare Bones club. That gives you a USGA Handicap Index (GHIN), the ability to post scores and compete in our events, and the member perks that come with association backing — all under the Bare Bones banner.
Is the handicap official and does it work everywhere?
Yes. It's a genuine USGA Handicap Index issued through GHIN — the same system used across the country. It's yours to use at any course, in any outside event, not just Bare Bones days.
What does membership cost?
Pricing is set on the membership checkout page. Use promo code less4 when you join to claim your member rate.
